Lynda Kavanagh, The "WOW" Gal

News stories:

Short Bio: Lynda Kavanagh, aka The "WOW" Gal:

TradeshowWhat does cycling have to do with marketing your business? Find out in one of Lynda's workshops.

Lynda is a world traveler, with most of her travelling being done on a bicycle across Europe. In Lynda's session "Don't coast downhill!", she explains how a mistaken turn on a bike can cost you many hours of energy, and eventually you will have to turn around and go back. She'll show that in Business, a mistaken turn WILL cost you time and money, and  there's a good chance you won't be able to go back.

Or... you may want to consider being an armchair cyclist during her session on Customer Service based on experiences in Venice, Italy. She brings her world travels and observations about consumer behaviour into every workshop.

Not only is the content solid, she will "WOW" you with her presentation style and her humour. All key points are memorably reinforced through photos of places she has visited on her bike - no boring PowerPoint slides in these sessions!  This picture is from Lynda presenting at the Calgary Women in Business Expo.

Business Background:

At 17-1/2 Lynda entered the world of business as a secretary at a cow rendering plan. Yes, it was quite an introduction to the business world, but she learned the understanding of how business works.

Over a span of 15 years, she moved into the Steel Service Centre industry and progressed from order desk clerk, to sales, to sales management to sales and purchasing management. She purchased, and sold, steel across North America dealing in millions of tons of steel. This steel business experience has helped her understand the trades and building construction industries.

In 1984, she decided to change careers and went back to receive post secondary educations in marketing, media, public relations and communications. Her new career would be in the marketing and communications industries, she has worked in all media (TV, Radio, Print, Internet), she has worked in public relations and fund raising for a post secondary institution, and in 1994 started her own marketing and training consulting business.

WOW Communications & Training Corporation offers programs for businesses, governments and non profit organizations in marketing and communications areas (WOW CAT Programs), but also specializes in helping people become Entrepreneurs (WOWprenuer Program). Lynda's head office is in Lethbridge Alberta, and she opened her Calgary office in 2005.

Lynda often says her business background allows her to converse with a variety of people, from truck drivers to labours to bankers to CEOs to administrators and to administrative assistants.

Lynda is also vice-president of WOW Tours International Corp. This company was formed with her husband D'Arcy in 2000 and offers specialized cycling tours or retreats to countries across the world.

Please note that Lynda worked in a post-secondary institution in the public relations and fundraising departments. During this tenure, she organized over 40 events for donors and the public. She understands the challenges of organizing events and therefore is accommodating for meeting planners.

Event Planner's Testimonials:

    • "As I am the one who works very closely with the speakers, I was thrilled when you took the ideas the committee discussed and were able to put them in an outline.  The thrill didn't stop there! The fact that you presented a session to production people on Ad Design, just proved that you are a "WOW" kind of gal.  We were pleased with your other sessions too.
