What's with the nautical stuff? We love the waterways and everything about them. At WOW, we feel we can learn from past and current sailors on how to constantly move forward in a predetermined course. Besides the captain, the two most important parts of a boat are the steering wheel and the engine. The captain sets the course, he uses the wheel to keep him focused on that course, and then uses the action of the engine to get him there. Next to you, a business owner or manager, the two most important parts of your business are your sales and marketing. You know where you want to go, your marketing allows you to focus on that direction, and your sales creates the action needed to get you there. Losing direction and focus can sneak up on any business. You're working away, doing what you do and finally you get a chance to look at the numbers. They tell you business is down and so are profits. That means your sales suck or are on the decline, and you have lost focus with your marketing. You now become frustrated and wonder what you should do.
