A Parting Glass ...

And so all good things must come to an end.

Due to life happening to members, we in The Glencoulee Band will be calling it a day on July 2 with a private performance for a wedding here in Lethbridge. That will be our next and our last gig.
The band began in 1998 but it was really in 2000 when Richard Burke joined that The Glencoulee Band really took off.
And what a ride it's been!

We've played hundreds and hundreds of gigs before tens of thousands of people in Alberta and B.C. We've played festivals, concerts, pub nights, weddings, birthdays and corporate gigs. We've produced three CDs, two of which totally sold out. We've done some radio and TV. (The movie never got made, though.)

The special moments are numerous. A jigging conga line at Earl's Lobsterfest, riotous dancing and singing in the Blarney Stone on St. Patrick's Day, a rollicking, wall-shaking singalong at the Water Valley Traditional Celtic Musical Festival, Danny Boy under summer skies at Fort Whoop-Up, a Robbie Burns audience standing and toasting their dearly departed as we did A Partin' Glass, hundreds of Newfoundland ex-pats flooding the main street of Fort McMurray as we closed down the annual festival with a thumping medley of Newfoundland tunes, a fabulous Alberta Centennial concert featuring our own music in the wonderful Empress Theatre in Fort Macleod - and on and on.

We are fortunate to have found each other as bandmates. We could not have asked for better.
Most of all, though, we want to thank all of you, our loyal supporters, who followed us gig after gig, sang Barrett's Privateers, 500 Miles and Rattlin' Bog with us, thumped your tables to Old Dun Cow, hummed along to Foothills Hymn and The Eagle's Come Back Again, and usually laughed at our jokes, good or bad.

For your company and your loyalty, we will be forever grateful.

And to use the title from one our favourite songs, we'll conclude by saying we hope to see you all further down the road.
